After reading “The Lady Doc”, a story about an independent woman who was not chaste or admirable, but tough as the old west itself, I wanted to know more about the author, Caroline Lockhart. She was quite a woman, became the biggest celebrity in Cody, WY. In 1920 two of her novels were made into major motion pictures. She fulfilled her goal to become the "best known woman west of the Mississippi." The book was interesting, but the woman behind the book - even more interesting!
A good character study. The lady doc was quite a manipulator. Lots if twists and turns through out the entire book
Having read the authors biography, I could understand a lot about the characters. All her books are well written and based on her experiences in the west.
This is the best book that I have read of Caroline Lockhart's so far. As I am familiar with the area in which this was to have "occluded", I found it delightful! She writes with such detail, winds in several diverse situations & brings it all together at the end.
Very good reading. I was surprised as I got into the book that it's a great example of evil versus good. I really enjoyed this book and I recently got other books from the author and I'm reading them now. So far they are god reading too, but The Lady Doc is the best so far.
